2020
2020 Child 10 Award

In January 2020, Martin Anderson, our Director of International Programs, received the Child 10 award for his and RefugePoint’s dedicated fight to combat child trafficking on the dangerous journey across the Mediterranean Sea and support the safe migration of children seeking refuge in Europe. Martin joined the nine other awardees for an award ceremony and a high-level summit in Malmö, Sweden. All of the awardees received $10,000 to strengthen, develop, and create sustainability in their organizations. The awardees joined forces throughout 2020 in their advocacy and outreach work to draw attention to and prevent the trafficking and sexual exploitation of children.

2018
Schwab Foundation Social Entrepreneurs of the Year 2018

In September 2018, RefugePoint leaders Sasha Chanoff and Amy Slaughter were honored as Schwab Foundation Social Entrepreneurs of the Year. This honor is bestowed each year by the Schwab Foundation, the World Economic Forum’s sister organization, to identify and recognize the world’s leading social entrepreneurs.

Espíritu Award from the Isabel Allende Foundation

In June 2018, RefugePoint was honored to receive the Espíritu Award from the Isabel Allende Foundation. The Espíritu Award was established in 2001 and is proactively granted to celebrate, honor and support exemplary work in the Foundation’s areas of interest.

Echoing Green

Sasha Chanoff was selected as an Echoing Green Global Fellow in 2006 for his work with RefugePoint. Echoing Green provides unrestricted seed-stage funding and strategic foundational support to emerging leaders working to bring about positive social change.

2007
DRK

Sasha Chanoff was selected as a Draper Richards Kaplan Fellow in 2007 for his work with RefugePoint. The DRK Foundation supports entrepreneurs who implement ground-breaking solutions and prides itself on funding some of the most effective organizations in the nonprofit sector.

2010
Charles Bronfman Humanitarian Prize

Sasha Chanoff received the Charles Bronfman Humanitarian Prize in 2010. The Charles Bronfman Prize recognizes young humanitarians whose work is inspired by their Jewish values and is of universal benefit to all people. The goal of the Prize is to recognize dynamic leaders whose innovation and impact serve as inspiration for future generations.

2012
Ashoka

Sasha Chanoff was elected to the Ashoka Fellowship in 2012. The life-long fellowship is supporting Sasha in his commitment to championing new patterns of social good with an entrepreneurial spirit in working with refugees.

2013
Harvard Center for Public Leadership Gleitsman International Activist Award

The Center for Public Leadership at Harvard Kennedy School named Sasha Chanoff the 2013 recipient of the Gleitsman International Activist Award for his work as Founder and Executive Director of RefugePoint. The award, given biennially to a leader who has “improved the quality of life abroad and inspired others to do the same,” was presented on November 5th, 2013.

White House Champion of Change Award

Sasha Chanoff was recognized as a White House Champion of Change in 2015 for his work with RefugePoint. The Champions of Change program was created as an opportunity for the White House to feature individuals doing extraordinary work to empower and inspire members of their communities.
